2022 turned out to be a remarkable year for Bollywood Actor Kartik Aaryan as he delivered one of the biggest challenging films of his career, Freddy, which got lots of appreciation from his fans and garnered love from the critics as well. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F in the lead role, the film is inspired by the American slasher film ‘The Dentist’ (1996).
While the actor was floundering on the success of his latest release ‘Freddy’, an OTT psychological thriller, one of his statements sparked outrage. In one of his recent outings, Kartik spoke about the title’s success and the honour he has received for the portrayal of Dr Freddy Ginwala. He also mentioned how his performance is being compared to that of superstar Shahrukh Khan’s 1993 release ‘Darr’.
Speaking of the reviews to Firstpost, the actor said, “A lot of netizens compared my performance to Shahrukh Khan’s in Darr.” He added, “It means a lot even to have your name be used in the same sentence as the legend so this compliment is truly surreal.”
Although the actor was highly loved and praised for his versatility and performance in the film, the statement didn’t go down well with SRK’s fans. A number of keyboard warriors trolled Kartik Aaryan for his audacity to make such statements.
Netizens left many hilarious reactions and memes over his statement and even said, “Kahan Raja Bhoj, Kahan Gangu Teli.” A Twitter user wrote, “I need this kind of fake confidence in my life,” while another reiterated, “No doubt, Kartik was superb as Freddy… It might be his best performance but comparing it to SRK’s performance in #Darr… That’s a bit too much… SRK in Darr was something else.” Some users blame it on Kartik Aryan’s PR and said,” PR Control Kar Na Bhai.”
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, this Hindi psychological thriller film premiered on 2 December 2022 on Disney+Hotstar. On the work front, The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 actor will next be seen in Shehzada alongside Kriti Sanon. The duo will be seen for the second time after Luka Chuppi (2019). The teaser of the film has already crossed 15M views on YouTube.
